DID YOU PURHCASE A SOIL BLOCK TODAY

================================================================
1. READY TO PLANT:

These starts are already hardened off! They have
been acclimated to the outdoor sun and wind, meaning you can plant
them directly into your garden today without any waiting period.

2. PLANT DIRECTLY:

Do not break or crumble the block. Dig a hole the
exact size of the soil block and drop it straight into the ground or
your patio container.

3. WATER DEEPLY:

Keep the soil consistently moist for the first 2 weeks
while the roots break out of the block and establish in their new home.

4. KEEP BLOCKS DAMP:

If you are not planting today, place the blocks in
a shallow tray in a shaded spot outside. Pour a half inch of water into
the bottom of the tray so the roots stay moist. Never let them sit out
in the direct sun or on dry dirt before they are in the ground.

Thank you for supporting our farm!

THE BASICS
================================================================

1. Sunlight (The Fuel)

Most edible plants—especially fruiting ones—are sunworshippers.

 Full Sun: They need at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

 Exceptions: Leafy greens and some herbs can tolerate partial shade (around 4 hours of sun), but they still prefer more if they can get it.

2.. Soil (The Foundation)

Do not just dig a hole in regular backyard dirt. It is often too dense, lacks nutrients, or traps too much water.

 The Dream Mix: You want loose, crumbly soil rich in organic matter. A great starter blend is 50% high-quality potting mix (or raised bed soil) and 50% aged compost.

 Drainage is Key: Your container or garden bed must have drainage holes. If water puddles and stays there for hours, your plant roots will suffocate and rot.

3. Watering (The Lifeline)

-Always water the base of the plant! Keep the leaves dry to prevent disease.-

 Water Deeply, Less Often: Soak the soil thoroughly 1 to 2 times a week instead. This encourages roots to grow long and strong to reach the deep moisture.

 The Finger Test: Stick your index finger 2 inches into the soil. If it feels dry, water. If it feels damp, leave it alone.

4. Spacing (The Breathing Room)

Plants look tiny when you first bring them home from the nursery, but crowding them leads to poor airflow, pests, and smaller harvests. Always check your seed packet or plant tag, but generally, give larger plants at least 1.5 to 2 feet of space from their neighbors.
